How Can Counselling

Help Me?

Frequently Asked Questions About Counselling

 How can counselling help?

Talking therapy can be useful for working through a wide range of issues. People often seek counselling when they want to make changes or feel stuck in an area of their life. Counselling can also help you to develop more resilience and discover new inner resources to support yourself through difficult times.

If you still feel unsure whether counselling might be right for you, please contact me to arrange a free consultation.

What happens in counselling sessions?

Before you begin counselling, I invite all new clients to attend a free, telephone or online consultation. This gives me an opportunity to find out what brings you into counselling. You will also get to know a little more about my approach to counselling and be able to ask any questions you may have. If we feel comfortable working together, we can then discuss a suitable time for our first appointment.

Counselling is an opportunity to tell your story to someone who is independent and professionally trained. During our counselling sessions, I will listen, provide gentle challenges to encourage self-reflection and introduce different tools. These can enable you to gain new insights and develop skills that move you towards your desired goals.

How much does counselling cost?

I offer a free, 30-minute telephone or online consultation. Further sessions are charged at £45 each. I continue to offer keyworkers a discounted rate as my way of saying thank you for their service during Covid. I also offer a limited number of discounted appointments for students.

How long is a counselling session?

Counselling sessions are usually 50 minutes long.

How frequently do I need to attend counselling sessions?

Traditionally counselling appointments are offered at the same time each week, this enables us to build a strong relationship as we get to know each other.

What if I am unable to attend the same time each week ?

For shift workers, I have a limited number of flexible, daytime slots. Please contact me to discuss whether I am able to accommodate your working pattern.

How many sessions will I need?

The number of sessions required, will depend on your individual needs and goals. I offer both short term, and long term therapy.

What if I am unable to attend an appointment?

No cancellation fees will be charged, when you provide more than 24 hours notice. For less than 24 hours notice, I charge £20.
